Permissions checker
Discord permissions checker
By ESN Systems, makers of ESN Guardian. Updated November 2, 2026.
Paste a Discord permission number, or a bot's invite link, and see in plain English what it allows and which permissions could be used to raid or nuke your server. You can also tick boxes to build a safe permission set for @everyone, a member role or a bot. It all runs in your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere.
Or tick the permissions instead
Where to find the permission number
- Bot invite links include it: the part after
permissions=. Paste the whole link before you add a bot, and you will see exactly what it asks for.permissions=8means Administrator. - Roles: Discord does not show a role's number in the app, so tick the boxes to match what you see in Server Settings → Roles. Guardian's
/audit runcan also flag dangerous permissions for you.
Safe defaults
- @everyone should have none of the red or orange permissions. Anyone who joins gets them.
- Big member roles (levels, boosters, verified) should not have Ban, Kick, Manage Roles, Manage Channels or Manage Webhooks.
- Staff roles should get only what that job uses. Keep Administrator to the owner and one or two people.
- Bots should get what their features need. A leaked bot token with Administrator can wipe a server in seconds.
ESN Guardian's audit flags dangerous role permissions, its anti-nuke reverts dangerous permissions added to @everyone during an attack, and /rewind can undo a nuke.

What does permissions=8 mean?
8 is the Administrator permission. A bot invite with permissions=8 asks for every permission in your server.
Which permissions can nuke a server?
Administrator, Manage Server, Manage Roles, Manage Channels, Manage Webhooks and Ban Members are the ones attackers use to delete channels, ban members and spam. Kick Members and Mention @everyone are common in raids.
Is anything I paste sent to a server?
No. The checker runs entirely in your browser.
